TLP Empire

TLP is once again talk of the town, after the arrest of Saad Rizvi, TLP blocked major cities, now many are suggesting government to ban TLP & deal with force. But this sounds more of a reactive emotional reaction exactly the way how TLP reacts, TLP approach.

Firstly need to understand the concept before suggesting solutions. Many don't understand Khadim Rizvi did not introduce any new concepts but just mainstreamed the already existing sentiments of the public.His rhetoric was not revolving around the traditional issues but was centered around topics that are close to the public hearts But often don't get mainstreamed. By calling out the clergy for inaction he quickly managed to gather the public around him. Historically despite being a religious society, no right-wing party managed to secure good results in Election especially in Punjab. In few years TLP changed this trend & secured the third-highest vote in Punjab along with a good number of votes in Sindh & KPK.

Dharna,Mass mobilization,political violence is part of culture political parties developed over the years from TLP is just following that. The difference is mass mobilization without having stakes & influence within the system is always counter-productive it reduces chances of support for a likely settlement, Plus with each day passing public sentiment shifts & authorities eventually find a good reason for the crackdown. Even though with the help of Charismatic personality of Rizvi, TLP managed to find a soft corner among the followers of other right-wing parties but because of TLP's lack of political maturity failed to establish working relations with even the right-wing like JUI,JI, etc leave the centrists. This would never allow TLP to grow politically. 

But Apart from that political discourse, the most serious is this culture of "Religious vigilantism" that TLP is promoting, where anyone can accuse anyone of Blasphemy & can torture or kill anyone &become a hero. It is counterproductive for TLP's own cause & for the whole society. Recently many such incidents were reported. Bank security guards shamelessly followed this trend to settle score with his bank manager police constable incident is another example.This trend should be addressed immediately. Cutting the story short, No overnight fix (includes Banning of TLP) won't change the social fabric nor will this overshadow the political discourse,not posing a security threat.

Solutions

- The topic of Khatam e Nabowat P.B.U.H, Islamophobia & Kashmir should be addressed, few years down the lane another party can emerge catching the sentiments of the public on such issues.

- As most of the issues are related to Foreign policy need active measures to build an environment where State can carry an aggressive Foreign policy that represents the public sentiments.  

Side Note: 

As the topic is broad but another factor is the domino effect the rise of Islamophobia be it in France or be it in India will only undermine secular & Liberal voices within the Muslim world particularly in Pakistan.
