Reconstructing of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)

TTP has announced a restructuring of the organization on a pattern (of the Afghan Taliban (IEA), Overall territories are into two Zones North & South. With each zone being assigned to Shadow governors.

A Six-member commission has been set up on the governors of each zone. The "system of groups" will be lead by Governors assisted by deputy Governors. Both will be answerable to the commission whose members will be appointed by the Central Committee.

The shadow governors appointed by TTP are as follows:

Umar Khurasani for Peshawar:

Umar is from Mohmand Agency,(Ex-FATA). He previously served as secretary to Omar Khalid Khorasani (TTP JA head).

Shahid Umar for Bajaur:

A former commander of TTP Bajaur. He was considered as Maulana Faqir Mohammad's successor. He spent 8 years in Bagram Jail just got out a couple of months ago.

Mufti Barjan for Malakand:

He is from Swat district & has been the Amir of Swat before.

Aleem Khan for Bannu:

Ustad Aleem Khan is from North Waziristan and was the head of a TTP Shura.

Abu Yasir for D.I Khan:

Abu Yasir is from South Waziristan and has been a leading member of the Mehsud Taliban.

Along with that, TTP has appointed deputy governors, economic & welfare officials, & intelligence chiefs. This restructuring is part of TTP Noor wali's (Abu Mansur's) drive to rebrand TTP, having a background of Education & politics, he has adopted a political approach. The Strategy is simple "Back to the basics", to build a strong chain of command, having a structure supporting accountability but decentralization at the operational level. Local commanders & shadow governors running their own show with greater freedom.

Apart from this political approach TTP has adjusted the operational approach as well in recent months has preferred targeting the military targets (Police, Army, FC) has also given statements on Political events as well. TTP wants to get mainstreamed just like Afghan Taliban. But this would be different especially when Most of the commanders including Noor Wali, Omar Khalid Khorasani are already on the UN & US Global terrorist List. A recent UN report also indicates that TTP is building & reorganizing in Afghanistan which can sooner or later. pose threat to the security of Pakistan but not of the same level especially with little to no infrastructure left after military operations, strong border management security system. But still remains a threat.
